Of the five NCP Values, which is your favorite one? Why?
My favorite NCP Value is “Focus on excellence and get great results”. I once had a professor tell me not to be goal-oriented, but results-oriented, and I always keep that in mind. If you’re putting in work but not getting results, you’re not putting in the right work!
What are some words of wisdom you live by?
I am a huge fan of Sara Blakley, and I love her quote, “Don’t be intimidated by what you don’t know. That can be your greatest strength and ensure that you do things differently from everyone else.” I also live by “Put some chunky shoes and some lip gloss on, and you’ll be ok,” which is what my late mother used to tell me when things got tough, meaning, put on a brave face and just get through it.
What fact about you might people be surprised to learn?
I spent the night on a surgical table on a study abroad trip to Peru at the age of 17. At first, the doctors thought it was a case of appendicitis, but it ended up being serious altitude sickness. While my Spanish is OK, the doctors in this hospital spoke a native language called Quechuan, which made the experience even more chaotic!
